PoMS

The UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme - Watch and record bees and other pollinators in your area. Take part in a 10-minute count or adopt a square kilometre and complete more detailed surveys.


Wales Climate Week

Held annually in November, there are lots of events and talks al over Wales.

The Citizen River Habitat Survey

The River restoration Centre provide training and guidance on how to get involved with the ongoing monitoring of our local rivers.

New Year Plant Hunt

Run by the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland. All plants in bloom are photographed and recorded on 2 days each New Year and submitted online.


Wye Catchment Partnership

Citizen science groups monitoring the Usk and Wye rivers.


Big meadow search

Take part in a UK and Ireland initiative to record the meadow plant species. There is no set methodology just get out there and record what you see. All data can be submitted on the website.


Great Big Green Week - Wales

He annually in June, lots of chance for communities to get involved with events and activities.


Freshwater watch

Run by Earthwatch Europe, community groups can take part in water monitoring. They also organise water bioblitz events.


Big Garden Bird Watch

Organised by the RSPB this runs in January each year. Volunteers can record all the birds they see in their gardens or park and submit the records online. There is also the Big Schools Birdwatch.


The Wildlife Trust

Take part in the Great Big nature Survey or volunteer with your local group.


Biodiversity information and reportion database.

Record what you see and submit records on your phone to the LERC app or online onto the Aderyn database.


The Big River Watch

Held annually in September the community can enjoy the riverside and the rivers themselves whilst recording observations over a 15 minute period and then upload ion to the app.


Bugs matter

Have you noticed less bugs squashed on your windscreen these days?

Run by Buglife UK you can simply count the number of ‘bug splats’ on your vehicle number plate after a journey. Starts every year on June 1st


Amphibians and Reptiles – Record pool

Organised by the Amphibian and Reptile Trust (ARC) you can record sightings of Adders and other species online to build a map of their distribution across Wales.


World Curlew Day

World Curlew Day is held on 21st April every year and is a grass-roots initiative which champions curlews worldwide
